Amazon.com Product Description The Giro Rift bike helmet is an ideal choice for riders who want cool comfort and rugged good looks without breaking the bank. The helmet is made using Giro's in-mold construction, which fuses the helmet's outer shell with an impact-absorbing EPS liner. Not only does this reinforce both layers, but the "exoskeleton" also allows Giro to engineer helmets that are lighter, more durable, and better ventilated. The helmet also employs Giro's patented Acu Dial fit system, which hugs the back of your head and reduces the tendency of your helmet to shift forwards or backwards. Unlike most system, the Acu Dial's design provides adjustable tension independent of the helmet straps. This means you don't have to overtighten the straps to enjoy a snug, comfortable fit. The bike's premium features conclude with a whopping 24 cooling events, keeping you well ventilated on both short and long rides. About Giro Working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, and the result was the Giro Prolight, a helmet that was better looking than traditional designs while offering a superior fit and still met the industry's toughest safety standards. Plus, it was half the weight of traditional helmets. Since then, Giro has advanced its helmets, many of which have set the standards for styling, function, and innovation for progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world. Young-bloods and old-timers; hard-cores, heshers, and hipsters; rookies, experts, and a few regular Joes too--in fact, pretty much anyone that appreciates superior fit and function, cutting edge styling, and the very best ideas you get in a helmet.

Very good product June 20, 2010 Brian F. Smith (New York) Over all I like this product and never ride my bike without it. Two thumbs up for this one.
One gets for what one pays... May 10, 2010 Holden Caulfield (Dana Point) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I received this item--quickly, as always, and was hoping for the best...after all, all these helmets have the same safety rating. Alas, I was underwhelmed, to say the least. The "padding" on the inside was peeling off and it was downright uncomfortable. The super-expensive helmets are only esoterically better (slightly lighter and that's about it) than moderately priced ones but I think one must spend around $60 or so to get one of good quality that's comfortable, as well. Actually, Costco has a Bell helmet that is more well-made and more adjustable that's around $45-50, I think.
I really hate sending things back but this baby made a quick u-turn back to Amazon. It's the epitome of Chinese crap, IMO. One more note...having tried on several different helmets, I'm convinced it's wise to pick one that's your size, as opposed to a universal fit. The sized ones have adjustments but they're subtle, and much more comfortable. Happy riding....
Will not fit Extra Large Heads - WARNING!! April 30, 2010 Mr. Ed (NJ, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Figure I'd give this helmet a try due to the light weight and very adequate venting. The design and dial in fit for the back is standard design for bicycle helmets in this price range.
HOWEVER for anyone with large heads (>60cm) be warned that this helmet will not fit you!! I have a large head which is 60.5cm, and the helmet even with the loosest dial setting in the back barely fit my head and it looked like a mushroom on top of that. The description says "universal fit", which is incorrect. Had to return it. And went with another VERY POPULAR 4 letter brand (brand sold here on Amazon and has an even bigger name in the Bike accessory industry since the invention of the telephone by the inventor Alexander Graham....) which I know has a "universal fit" that truly does have settings for even the largest heads.
BTW - I normally take a size XL with motorcycle helmets
Good product at a great price April 11, 2010 Juan Camilo Ramirez (Miami, FL) This is a very good helmet, it has an universal fit and is very comfortable. Excellent for MTB
Great helmet for the price. November 15, 2009 Martinarcher64 This is a great helmet for the price. It looks great, fits my head perfect, and is made by Giro. It is nice to have a quality helmet that is adjustable so you do not need to worry about ordering the incorrect size. I would recommend this helmet.
